Preview of the 6-Man League fixtures for Monday 16 September.
The top five teams in Division 1 of the 6Man League all have away fixtures this Monday with title matters still to be settled. The top two, Marsh United A and Waterloo have identical Won-18 Lost-5 records meaning a three-points gap between them. Whilst 3rd-placed Shepley A are only a further 3 points behind and have the easiest-looking fixture this week at bottom-of-the-table Lockwood Con. With the leaders, Marsh United A at 2nd from bottom Paddock I&C things could look difficult for Waterloo in hanging on to 2nd place with a trip to play Brockholes A.
Matters are more clear-cut at the foot of the table where Lockwood Con and Paddock I&C both seem doomed with only a maximum of 21 points available from their remaining 3 fixtures and already 15 points adrift of safety. They could both be relegated after Monday's matches.
Things are likely to take much longer to resolve at the top of Division 2 where five teams remain in contention for the two promotion places. Whilst Clayton West are in prime spot and have a 9 points cushion over the chasing pack. They have a really difficult-looking fixture this week with a trip to play 3rd placed New Mill who have won their last 10 league matches as well as semi-final and final wins in the Julie Fuller Trophy.
Marsh Lib A have to win their away match at Golcar Lib if they are to hold on to the second promotion place with Bradley and Colne and Holmfirth A both in easy range of replacing them and both with Monday away matches against bottom half opposition.
Elland C&BC are already relegated and could drag Linthwaite Hall down with them after their meeting this week. Hemplow and Greenhead Park A need the insurance that wins would bring so every team has to be on their toes this week.
It will be 2 from 3 who get promoted this year from Division 3 as the top trio all have away matches this week with the leaders, Brockholes B, having the easiest looking of those three. They play a Greenhead Park B team that have lost their last six fixtures whilst their main rival for the title, Thongsbridge B, have to go to 4th placed Holmfirth B who have won 4 of their last 5 fixtures. Denby Dale have a tricky away tie at Primrose Hill Lib but need to start picking up more points than their two rivals if aspirations of Division 2 bowling next year are to be maintained.
