A preview of the Division 1 & 2 fixtures scheduled for Wednesday 6 December

We are hopeful that we will have some bowling to watch and report on with a better weather forecast ahead of Wednesday's Divisions 1 and 2 fixtures. The greens need to thaw out after the cold spell and let's hope the 24 hours before start time sees higher temperatures to make that happen.

A mouth-watering top of the Division 1 table clash to savour with the two teams level on points at the top go head-to-head. Thorpe Green A and New Mill A have identical records this season having both won-4 drawn-1 and lost-1 and only the top Aggregate For total separating them at present. Third-placed Clayton West will be hoping that the two two draw their match opening up an opportunity for them close the gap with a big win over Lowerhouses A. If not this week then it may not be long in coming as the West have a match in hand over both of their rivals and only four points behind them. With three 8-0 wins behind them from five matches played that target is certainly within their scope. However it should be noted that the two matches they have lost were against the top two so longer term that may come home to undermine their bid for honours.

An interesting clash between two under-performing big-hitters so far as reigning Winter League Champions, Lower Hopton, take on Veterans League Champions, Golcar Lib, Both had slow starts to the season and both show signs of recovery by both winning 2 of their last 3 fixtures. The bottom two teams in the table meet up as Kirkheaton Con A and Meltham both go in search of their first win of the season and level on 12 points each.

The Division 2 leaders, Cowcliffe A, have no match this week but their 14 points lead ensures that there will be no threat this week to their top-of-the-table status. Second-placed Lindley BC B have won their last three matches with the same 8-0 scoreline so are the form team in the division but they meet another form team as, after a slow start, Denby Dale have shaken off their losing habit and left bottom position behind them by winning their last two matches and moving into the top half of the table.

Milnsbridge A could resurrect their promotion ambitions with a big win over relegation-threatened Huddersfield Recreation Club A and then Lindley Lib A will be aiming to stretch their two-points lead over Springwood A when the two teams meet in a lower table encounter. Lockwood Con A have lost their last three matches by the same 2-6 scoreline and hope to stop the rot when taking on foot-of-the-table Brcokholes A who are still struggling to recover from the loss of their top two bowlers from their promotion season.
