Winter League
A preview of the Division 1 fixtures for Wednesday 10 November
Last week Lindley BC 'A' became the first team to take any points off top-of-the-table Lower Hopton, this week they will be looking for a bigger share of the spoils when they take on bottom team Rastrick 'A'. This is a good opportunity to consolidate their mid-table position and maybe push on from there to grander things. Rastrick 'A' will be looking to add to their meagre points total of two and start a revival which past form indicates that they are very capable of.
Only Lower Hopton have beaten the New Millers to date who will be well tested against Clayton West this Wednesday as they return to the form that made them strong contenders to lift the inaugural season Championship last year before COVID intervened. New Millers have settled well and this should be a riveting encounter between two teams with sights on a top-two finish. Kirkheaton Con have the week off and may return to find that their second-place position has been lost to the winners of this match.
Thorpe Green 'A' are the latest team to try and arrest the gallop that Lower Hopton has engaged in for the race to the first League Championship. However they have only beaten teams below them in the table so far this season but with a game in hand remain positive about their contribution to top-half of the table bowling. The 'A' teams from Milnsbridge and Lowerhouses clash this week with the loser probably left in the second relegation spot so incentive enough to turn up determined to avoid that status at this stage of the season.
All four Division 1 matches start at 12noon on the Milnsbridge green with four jacks (one for each match) on the green at all times. All spectators are very welcome and are encouraged to buy a raffle ticket to help finance the competition. Refreshments are also available to all.
