Veterans League
The opening round of the 2025 Bistro KO competition takes place on Tuesday with all 60 teams eligible to compete in this unique format competition.. The format being the traditional 5 pairs with aggregate scores determining the winners.
The holders Kirkheaton Con A take on Division 2 side Denby Dale at Ravensknowle Park with 13 handicap difference. Last year's runners-up, Longwood, have a Preliminary Round bye and will face fellow Division 1 side, Golcar Lib A, in the Round of the Last 32.
There are two inter-club clashes as the two Marsh Lib teams are drawn against each other in the Preliminary Round on the Longwood green. The two Hemplow teams also line up against each other at Clayton West. This seems to be a deviation from recent practice of inter-club clashes being staged on the club green.
The biggest handicap difference is in the match between Cowcliffe (0) and Huddersfield Recreation Club (+32) with the Division 1 team having to make up an average of over 6 points in each of the 5 pairs games to progress any further.
There is just one all-Division 1 tie when Waterloo and Clayton West go up against each other on the Milnsbridge BC green. Seven teams are already through to the Round of the Last 32. Two of those created by the withdrawals of Rastrick and Elland C&BC as is the usual for these two clubs.
Holmfirth A have also pulled out this year leaving Marsh United B through to the next round where they will meet the winners of the Kirkheaton C&BC A v Lindley BC A tie. The other four byes lead to the two ties already pencilled in for the next round on Tuesday 10 June. One of those two ties will be another all-Division 1 clash with Golcar Lib A and Longwood facing each other.
