There were a few more upsets in the quarter-finals of the Bistro KO played yesterday on neutral greens. At the end of the day there is only one Division 1 team through to the semi-finals as Lindley Lib A beat Clayton West in the match of the two top layer teams coming together.
Both were on a +6 handicap with Clayton West sat in 4th position and Lindley Lib A in 3rd from bottom. Clayton West won decisively 7-2 when the two teams met each other earlier in the season and they are due to face each other in a league match next Tuesday. But this week it was all about the Bistro and its unique five-pairs format.
The outcome was a big 105-83 win for the underdogs who progress to play the ultimate underdogs in the semi-finals, New Mill B. They won for the fourth time in this competition which is more wins than they have accumulated all season in league matches. Denby Dale were on the wrong end of a 122-115 scoreline as the competition giant-killers progressed once again.
Skel Windmill may be unbeaten in their Division 4 programme with 12 straight wins to date but they were well off the pace when taking on Division 2 high-flyers Elland WMC. A decisive win for the Elland outfit and they will now play the Division 3 leaders, Almondbury Lib, in the semi-finals. Another good scalp for the Almondbury Lib team as they overwhelmed Division 1 outfit Golcar Lib A by 105-88.
The neutral greens have still to be confirmed but the semi-finals go ahead on Thursday 31 July.
