Bistro KO Final on Thursday

Veterans League

The Veterans League competition finals keep coming with the Bistro KO next in line this Thursday. The Lindley Lib A versus Elland WMC meeting at Brockholes (1.30pm start time) promises to be an interesting affair. Next season this will be a Division 1 fixture with the Elland team leading the way at the top of the Division 2 table and seemingly on their way to the title as well as promotion.

The unique format of this competition, involving five pairs, makes it an unpredictable event with many bowlers unfamiliar with the nuances of pairs bowling. The outcome is determined by the better aggregate score, and only in the event of a drawn aggregate scoreline does the number of games won come into play. Both finalists were grateful for that League Rule deciding the outcome after a drawn match in the competition this year.

Lindley Lib A almost exited the competition in the very first round after a 100-100 drawn scoreline versus Milnsbridge A before a 3-2 game score provided the result and progress to the next round. Elland WMC left it later in the competition with a 111-111 drawn score against Almondbury Lib in their semi-final and again the rule book came to their aid to set up this week's final.

The formbook indicates a win for the Division 2 side as the Elland team have won their last 11 League matches albeit at a lower level whilst the Lindley team have only won one of their last seven and have a 10-points handicap difference (+6 versus +16) to overcome. It all happens on Thursday at Brockholes with a 1,30pm start time. Should be fun.
