Big week for Paul's Kitchens

Ladies Works League

Results Review of matches played 19-23 July

Paul's Kitchens have thrown the Division 2 title race wide open with two wins in the week the latter being a Wednesday win over current leaders D Haigh & Co. A 143-133 scoreline puts them just 30 points off the top of the table from the same number of games played. That win followed a Monday night win at Brook Hansen 'B' by 144-123 to throw down the gauntlet to the Brockholes based side who have been top of the pile for the whole season. The movement at the top will also have aroused the interest of Pearce Displays and the unbeaten Holmes Dresser teams who can all win the title as well as the continuing battle for the two promotion places. Pearce Displays did their own chances no harm with a 148-109 win away at Colne Valley Garden Centre whilst Holmes Dresser have two games in hand of the leaders and have to play them twice in the final two fixtures of the season so it is clear that this episode is going to run for some while yet.

Atkinson Butchers continue to progress to their inevitable retention of the Division 1 Championship with a 164-70 demolition of Huddersfield Recreation Club this week which extended their lead to over 400 points off the same number of matches. The real interest is now highlighted on the runners-up position with three teams in close contention and with an interesting set of fixtures still to be negotiated. The Friday evening fixture pitched 2nd v 3rd which resulted in Alicia Dawn Photography confirming and extending their lead over Brook Hansen 'A' with a 146-92 win which may yet do irreparable damage to Brook's chances of any honour this season. Bolster Moor Farmshop remain firmly in the picture after a 148-132 home win over PEG Perego.

Only one fixture scheduled for the coming week but that could add to the drama surrounding the Division 1 tussle for the runners-up position when Bolster Moor Farm Shop host Alicia Dawn Photography. The Farm Shop will need a big win to bolster their chances but home advantage should help them with that.

Thank you to Hazel Rangeley for a few action photos from the Colne Valley Garden Centre v Pearce Displays Division 2 fixture staged at Thorpe Green last Monday in the sunshine.
