The BCGBA Men's Champion of Champions title will be decided on Saturday. Dave Parkin previews the draw
BCGBA Champion of Champions Weekend:
This weekend sees the traditional end of season singles events run by the BCGBA being held at Monk Sports & Social Club, Warrington.
The following two weekends sees the BCGBA Pairs & Team Championships being run.
The Men’s field was finalised Friday afternoon with this week’s last two qualifiers being won by bowlers not already qualified (Lee Brown – Autumn Waterloo & Gary Wike - Talbot), with Josh Mordue the losing finalist in both events. It left James Wilcox (winner of the Gambart Baines) the unused last reserve after last year’s winner, Chris Kelly got the call to replace his Thongsbridge teammate, Adam Jones who was unable to attend.
Lee Brown drew No 24 & Gary Wike No 28 in the draw.
There are no fewer than 8 bowlers with local connections.
Gareth Coates, Nick White (Thongsbridge), James Davison, Joe Cranston & Danny Towning all take their chances.
Gary Wike is joined in the bottom quarter by the all-Yorkshire clash of merit winner, Robbie Ellis and defending champion, Chris Kelly.
Good luck to all bowling on Saturday and hope we’re celebrating another Yorkshire winner on Saturday evening.
