Bowling News
An update on the Ladies Champion of Champions competition with three Yorkshire ladies in the Last 32. This report comes from Dave Parkin.
BCGBA Champion of Champions Weekend:
This weekend sees the traditional end of season singles events run by the BCGBA being held at Monk Sports & Social Club, Warrington.
The following two weekends sees the BCGBA Pairs & Team Championships being run.
The Ladies field was finalised on Monday by the BCGBA with the weekend’s last two qualifiers being won by bowlers already qualified (Nicola Boulton - Talbot & Shannon Kernick – Ladies Waterloo), it meant the two Tourism winners from the June & September IOM festivals completed the field.
Sarah Weaver drew No 14 & Linda Hough No 29 in the draw. This exhausted the published reserve list with the listed Ladies Federation Merit & New Brighton Open being omitted as I could find no evidence of them taking place.
Earlier, Blackpool Spring Festival winner, Sarah Hey indicated she wasn’t able to attend & was replaced in the draw by Cheshire Merit winner, Emma Earlam (No 7) who had been left out of the original draw due to an admin error caused by Cheshire running two BCGBA qualifying events (Karen Galvin won the All England one) & a BCGBA official not realising.
The 3 local Yorkshire County bowlers, Lorraine Hirst, Alexis Lunn-Gadd & Andrea Buckley have all avoided each other & are in separate quarters of the draw. In the remaining quarter, Sarah Edmondson whose partner, Josh Mordue lost in the final of the Autumn Waterloo on Wednesday plays so we could have an “All Yorkshire connections” semi-final line up.
Good luck to all ladies bowling on Sunday
