Thank you to Alan Hobson for sharing this photograph and commentary on Bakewell Town Bowling Club. Alan adds to the story which indicates that the roots from a nearby tree contribute to the unique crown on this green. The dimensions mentioned make it a very serious challenger to the Kirkheaton Con green.

Bakewell Town Bowling Club. Very central in Bakewell. The large building on left is the Town Hall. Passed it yesterday and someone was practicing and so I spoke to him and had a roll. The tree on the right has roots that go under the green which make it an interesting area. Only about 20 metres wide and it is crown green bowling.
