Away form scrutiny in Division 1 title race

Veterans League

Preview of the Veterans 6-Man League fixtures scheduled for Monday 2 September

The top four teams in Division 1 all have away fixtures this Monday and all play teams in the bottom half of the table except 2nd placed Waterloo who have to travel to play 5th placed Slaithwaite. Two of those four face bottom three opponents as Skel Windmill A and Shepley A take on Crosland Moor and Paddock I&C respectively. This may give Skel and Shepley boys some hope of closing in on the top two. Crosland Moor are 10 points clear of the relegation places and will be keen to maintain that safety distance ahead of Paddock.

It is a similar situation in Division 2 where the top three teams are all on their travels this week. Second-placed Bradley & Colne seem to have the most difficult opponents as they have to go to play New Mill who are on an 8-match winning run coupled with a JFT title winning display as well so will be feared by any opponent.

Clayton West remain well clear at the top and a trip to play Almondbury Lib is unlikely to ruffle their feathers this week. Third-placed Marsh Lib meet Linthwaite Hall who need to start reducing the gap to safety which is 3 points at present to challenge Greenhead Park who are away at Milnsbridge B.

The top two teams in Division 3 go up against each other as leaders Brockholes B host Denby Dale. Whatever the outcome Brockholes will still be at the top of the table but will Denby hang on to the 2nd promotion place? Thongsbridge B are the emerging threat on the back of a 5-match unbroken winning run but have to go to 5th placed Primrose Hill Lib this Monday.
