Arthur Land Super Cup 2023

Bowling News

Details of the 2023 Arthur Land Super Cup competition have been released and entries are now invited.

This competition is a national competition for 8-man teams from the top clubs in the country with last year producing an epic encounter in the Final. This was staged in Telford with Lloyds Hotel from Manchester overcoming Garswood Hall from Wigan by one point in a 220-219 aggregate cliff-hanger.

All matches up to and including the Quarter-Finals are played on a home and away basis with four-man teams at each venue. All matches are 31-Up. The last two stages are played on the same day at a designated venue. The Final of the 2023 competition will be played at a green in Yorkshire which has still to be finalised.

Rules Rounds of 64, 32 and 16 shall be divided into North and South, you shall not play a team from your county where possible. After that the draw shall be open. Each team shall consist of 8 players, 4 at home, 4 away, playing 31 up. The finals day will be at a neutral venue. The highest total aggregate score wins. If the aggregate is tied the team with the most winners progresses. If that is also level then the team with the best winner shall progress (2nd best winner and so on until a winner is found) Teams must offer their opponents at least 4 different dates, with at least 2 of them being on different days of the week. A weekend and week day must be offered. Registration of players is no longer required, however once a player has represented a team they are tied to that team. The only exception is that a player who has played for a B team may move up to the A team. As the idea of the Super Cup is to find the best team in the land we want to ensure that players are active and ringers aren't brought in. Therefore the players in your squad must have played 3 league games for your club in 2023 to be eligible to play in the Round of 16 and Quarter Finals. Players must have played 6 league games in 2023 for your club to be eligible to play on the Finals day. Anything not covered in the rules shall be dealt with at the discretion of the competition organisers, this includes any covid related matters.
