Memories

On Saturday we challenged to you identify the What, Where, Who & When from an old photograph. We had one completely correct response and that came from Alan Crowther 12 out of 12.

One more entry that had a full house except for the year, and that came from Dennis Machin. Special mention to Alan Brown who named 7 of the 9 individuals and the venue correctly and was one year out on the date. Bill Blackburn does well again to correctly name the Conservative Merit competition as well as identifying 7 of the 9 individuals.

Nigel Midwood lifted the title that year and collected the £80 prize money on his home green by beating Derek Shaw 21-8 in the Final. Derek had done remarkably well to compete at this level after losing some fingers on his right hand after an accident at work. He converted to become a leftie and arguably improved his game by so doing.
