Almondbury Lib home favourites

Veterans League

Preview of the fixtures in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 to be played on Tuesday 8 July

Division 3 leaders, Almondbury Lib, are the only top four team with a home fixture this Tuesday so opening up the possibility of extending their current 4-point lead even further. They host a Slaithwaite team that sit just below the halfway mark of the table as teams reach the halfway point of the fixture programme. The other top four teams are Hemplow A, Brockholes A and Linthwaite Hall and they visit Holmfirth A, Lockwood Con B and Lindley Lib B respectively.

There are just two points between the bottom three teams and Paddock I&C are at the bottom of that trio and they are at home to fourth from bottom Thorpe Green and are just 4 points behind them so definitely within range. Also in that dropzone sit Marsh Lib A and Lockwood Con B neither have Tuesday fixtures to provide instant hope of some fresh points to add to their totals. Marsh Lib A have to go to play Springwood whilst Lockwood Con B do have home advantage although it is against a Brockholes A team still basking in the glow created by a 9-0 win over the Division leaders, Holmfirth A, at that time.

One more win on Tuesday for Skel Windmill would mean that they have beaten all 11 opponents in Division 4 as teams reach the halfway point of the season. The team standing in their way is Meltham B. They are on their best winning run of the season after winning their last 4 fixtures although this falls well short of the Skel team's achievement. In addition the Skel team are playing at home which makes the visitors' task even more daunting.

The other three teams in the top four all play away against bottom three opposition. Kirkheaton C&BC A are at Primrose Hill Lib, whilst Milnsbridge B are at Crosland Moor to play David Brown Sports. The other top four team is Huddersfield RUBC who don't play their fixture until Wednesday when they travel to play Netherton Con B.

Thongsbridge B and Ravensknowle Park are just above the bottom three on the same 41-points mark as they face each other with the loser in danger of becoming involved in matter below their current station.

Three teams all on 57 points head the Division 5 table with Brockholes B having the best Aggregate For total are leading the way. This week they have a home fixture against lowly Holmfirth B. Their two closest rivals both have away matches this week with Kirkheaton Con B at Marsh Lib B and Dalton going to Kirkheaton C&BC B. Hemplow B have a good chance of breaking into that top bunch with a home fixture this Tuesday against bottom of the table New Mill B.
