Almondbury beat Div. 4 top two this week

Winter League

Review of the three rearranged Division 4 matches played on Friday 15 December

Three of the four Division 4 fixtures postponed on Monday 4 December because of a frozen green were rearranged for and played last Friday. The other match, Lowerhouses B v Springwood B has been rearranged for Monday 19 February with a 10.00am start time.

The division leaders, New Mill B, were without a match but will not have been upset by the results posted as their lead was preserved as their main challengers failed to take advantage of the leader's day off.

None of the three teams immediately below the leaders managed to win their matches. Two of them were playing each other and Netherton Con A and Lindley Lib C fought out a 4-4 draw with a 53-51 aggregate scoreline in Netherton's favour being key to that outcome.

Second in the table, Thorpe Green C, really fluffed their lines going down 2-6 to Almondbury BC A who were only winning for the second time this season with the aggregate score again proving key with the Almondbury team claiming those points after a 52-51 scoreline. Their previous win was the Monday fixture when they beat New Mill B by the same 6-2 scoreline. So after not claiming a win all season they beat the top two in the same week. Where has this team been all season?

The third match saw the mid-table pairing of Kirkheaton C&BC and Milnsbridge C play each other with the Milnsbridge team coming out on top by 6-2 to push themselves ahead of their Friday opponents in the table with a better Aggregate For total. They now sit eight points (one big win) behind the three teams on the same 38 points total whilst no one can rule out an Almondbury side in this week's form and only a further four points down the table.
