Veterans League Review of the final day of results in Divisions 3,4&5 of the 10-Man League

Almondbury Lib are the runaway winners of the Division 3 title and will be joined in Division 2 next season by Hemplow A. The Hemplow team emerged from the congested chasing pack of four teams to take the second promotion place by one point after a 6-3 home win over Holmfirth A. Brockholes A and Linthwaite Hall both won their home matches but failed to acquire sufficient points to take the honours. Springwood ran out of steam after hitting second place four weeks ago but by losing 4 of their last 4 fixtures eliminated themselves from contention.
Springwood's last day match was away to Marsh Lib A and despite the latter's 6-3 win failed to close the gap on Paddock I&C and have been relegated along with Lockwood Con B.

A 14-match winning run secured the Division 4 top spot for Skel Windmill and they signed off in style with a 8-1 away win over Meltham B. That means that they ended up with a 24-point lead over Kirkheaton C&BC A who easily saw off the competition for the 2nd promotion place.
The 4 points that Primrose Hill Lib won in their final fixture at promoted Kirkheaton C&BC A was not enough to save them from relegation as their prime rivals for survival, David Brown Sports, got the two points they needed to edge the race to safety.

Big last day 8-1 Division 5 wins for Brockholes B and Kirkheaton Con B saw their points totals remain locked together with a 63-point Aggregate For total giving the Brockholes team the title. That was after winning away to a 7-man Holmfirth B team whilst the Kirkheaton team were recording a home win over Marsh Lib B. The one-point that the Holmfirth team acquired was matched by Almondbury BC B in their home match against Greenhead Park so condemning the Holmfirth team to the wooden spoon for a 3rd successive season.
