A review of the Divisions 5 & 6 results from Thursday 3 November
Three unbeaten teams top the Division 5 table as Outlane and Brockholes B occupy the two leading positions after Outlane recorded their first 8-0 victory this season and this inflicted a third consecutive defeat on the host club's B side. Brockholes B lost top spot after dropping points to Springwood C in a 4-4 draw but it is the third placed of that leading trio that takes the eye as Slaithwaite clocked up a second successive 8-0 win this time over Jackson Bridge. That puts them just two points behind the two leaders but with a match in hand over both of them.
The other two fixtures both produced 4-4 draws. In addition to the Brockholes B v Springwood C outcome there was also a share-out of the points between Mirfield A and the Huddersfield Recreation Club leaving both teams in mid-table and eight points from top and bottom slots.
Linthwaite Hall returned to the top spot in the Division 6 table following their Thursday 8-0 win over Mirfield B and they still have a match in hand over their closest rivals. New Mill C started the day as table leaders but it was their bye week and things couldn't have worked out worse for them as four teams passed them to leave them in fifth position albeit having played a match less than all the teams above them apart from Linthwaite Hall. To put things in perspective there are only 6 points separating the top six teams so some interesting fixtures looming which will no doubt settle the pecking order somewhat.
The host club's team intend being in that mix and a 6-2 win over Cowcliffe B lifted the RUFC side into second place. Lockwood Con B also had a good win with a 6-2 victory over Broad Oak who are still looking for their first win of the season. As are Kirkheaton Con B who went down to Golcar C&BC who were recording a second successive 6-2 win.
We fully expect to be introducing a Division 7 (at least) next season so the bottom two teams in Division 6 can expect to find themselves dropping down a level for next season.
