Veterans League

Final day of the Veterans 6-Man League season and all issues are resolved.

Clayton West duly lifted the Division 1 title despite losing 2-5 to their nearest challenger, Marsh United A in their final match of the season. Leading the table almost all season but being matched Won-18 Lost-4 records by the runners-up to win with a 4 points gap over their prime rivals.

Three of the bottom four teams won their last matches of the season including Thongsbridge A who had a most commendable 5-2 away win over Milnsbridge A but still go down. Wins for Golcar C&BC and Lindley Lib save them from dropping out of the top division and they will certainly expect to be big contenders for an immediate return next season.

New Mill A needed to collect at least 3 points from their last day Division 2 fixture against Longwood to claim the second promotion place which they did and more with a 4-3 (Aggregate 90-87) home win and a 6 points cushion to ensure promotion.

Brockholes A had already collected the title and so the top two teams regain the places in Division 1 they vacated last season. It was a different day for the two Brockholes teams with the A team going up as Champions whilst the B team suffered relegation despite a last day surge that almost saw them mount a miraculous escape. A last day 6-1 home win over the team immediately above them in the table, Milnsbridge B. saw them draw level on points but a 7-point Aggregate For advantage (1735-1728) saw the Milnsbridge team just over the survival line.

A final day 6-1 Division 3 away win for Marsh Lib B over Elland C&BC saw the winners escape relegation and sent the losers down into Division 4. Greenhead Park accompanied them through the relegation trapdoor after losing 1-6 away at the Champions Thongsbridge B.

With 6-1 Division 4 home wins for Hemplow B and Netherton Con B saw both teams promoted into Division 3 for next season.
