5-Year stats confirm falling team numbers

We have been providing regular updates on team numbers in many of the local and neighbouring leagues over recent weeks. Time to update that table with some comparisons against team numbers from 5 years ago (2016). Where figures are not available for 2016 we have used the oldest years figures that are available after that year.
Just 3 of the 21 leagues we continue to monitor have seen an increase in team numbers over that period and interestingly they are all veterans leagues. Whichever way you look at it there is a definite downward spiral with the Colne Valley League and the Bradford Saturday League losing over a third of their teams over that period.
However you look at the figures the trend is down with the reduction in the number of teams being significant - loss of 133 teams from 16 Leagues with a small increase of 5 teams in 5 Leagues.
The thought that goes through my mind is what will be the loss in say the next 5 years ?
