Review of the Division 1 fixtures completed on Wednesday 5 November

The Division 1 season is already looking like a three-way battle with the top three teams all unbeaten and with a 5 point gap emerging to the rest of the teams after only two matches. Reigning Champions Thorpe Green A take top spot courtesy of a better Aggregate For total (125-116) than Hanging Heaton A after a 6-2 win over Kirkheaton Con A.
Hanging Heaton have quickly settled to life at the top table and an 8-0 win over fellow promoted team Golcar Lib sees them well placed at this stage of the new season. Those two results leave Kirkheaton Con A and Golcar Lib sat in the two relegation places with a long season ahead to remedy that situation.
Cowcliffe are well in contention in third place after a 5-3 win over Lower Hopton. A drawn Aggregate For total (55-55) producing the rare 5-3 scoreline, which leaves Lower Hopton in unfamiliar territory third from bottom. New Mill A got back to winning ways when overcoming Lindley BC A by 6-2 but still sit two points and one place behind them at present.
Lots of twists, turns and suprises still to come in this division this year that is for sure but it increasingly looks like we have two separate competitions going on here with the top three going ahead with their own agenda.
