Bowling News
Time for three quick polls to cover another trio of topical matters. This is your opportunity to declare your support or opposition to three current hot topics that are being discussed in local bowling circles.
Would you miss the League Handbook in its paperback form?
Do you think that the local leagues you play in should become mixed-gender?
Do you think the Huddersfield Saturday League should change to a Home and Away format?
Things are changing in the bowling world, fewer people are playing and league numbers are dropping. Regardless of how much people ignore this, the truth is that these facts mean that the future of bowling is at stake. None of these proposals are going to save the sport in isolation. It will require more than a little tweaking to make a difference but change has to start somewhere.
On this website this week we looked at the options for the future of the League Handbook and want to ask the question 'Would you miss the handbook if your League stopped producing it?'
So changes are being talked about. An online poll was held during the season on a Facebook account which asked the question should the Huddersfield Saturday League admit women into its teams? There was a lot of support for the idea and I thought it would be worth revisiting that idea to see if there is local support for mixed-gender teams in general.
Another 'Old Chestnut' is the proposal for the Saturday League to move to a Home & Away format instead of the neutral greens currently in place. Let's see what bowlers' thinking is on this topic today.
