100 Points target to avoid the drop

Veterans League

I've just completed a simple exercise to forecast how many points teams will need to accumulate this season to avoid relegation. This is based on the points totals required in each division over the past 3 years to stay safe and taking into account the changing number of teams in each division. This also takes into account the proposed step by the Veterans League to balance out the teams in each of the five divisions which could lead up to four teams being relegated in some of the divisions. Catch up with the possible number of teams to be relegated in each division as outlined on this website last week.

I believe that the target teams should be aiming for to ensure safety is as follows.

Div 1 88 points (assuming 3 relegated)

Div 2 100 points (assuming 4 relegated)

Div 3 87 points (assuming 4 relegated)

Div 4 88 points (assuming 3 relegated)

The biggest threat seems to be to teams in Division 2 where four teams could be relegated and a target of a minimum 100 points required to avoid being one of that quartet. It isn't an exact science of course but I hope that it proves useful as a target for some teams and a motivational moment for others. Good luck.
