The 2022 meeting of the Yorkshire team against The Potteries teams in the Men's Senior County Championship has been well covered on these pages and now we go back even further. I am grateful to Bill Blackburn for sharing this photograph and story about the meeting of the two teams in the same competition in 1992.
There was a double celebration when the two counties met on 7 June 1992. The Potteries side were playing their 100th Inter-County match whilst Yorkshire was marking its centenary year. A plate was presented to each of the teams' players and officials and covered both milestone achievements. Bill remembers being presented with one of the plates as the official measurer of the Yorkshire away team. You have to ignore the fact that the drawing on the plate is clearly a flat green bowls match with the dress and scoreboard two giveaways.
