Yorkshire suspend their Cup competitions

Bowling News

Yorkshire CCGBA has decided to suspend their Yorkshire Cup and Hutchinson Cup fixtures for the immediate future. All 20 Hutchinson Cup ties scheduled for Saturday have been postponed according to their website.

At the same time, the Mirfield League has decided to advise all their clubs via their Bowlsnet homepage (copy alongside) that the Tuesday evening fixture programme is going ahead.

The guidance on the Gov.uk website, which was originally released late on Friday night, names the 8 local districts which includes Kirklees, that are high risk and where it says:

'avoid travelling in and out of affected areas unless it is essential, for example for work (if you cannot work from home) or education'

Confusion reigns! This is not a joined-up approach from bowling.

Well done Mirfield

Directors of public health from all eight councils have now released a statement saying: “Following the national coverage of recently revised guidance we have met with national officials and confirmed there are no restrictions on travel in or out of each of our areas: There are no local lockdowns.”
