Two more rounds of fixtures scheduled for each Division again this week with Tuesday and Thursday matches as we continue to catch up with fixtures lost during Lockdown2. This preview covers both days and examines all the matches lined up.
The host club will entertain Division leaders Clayton West on Tuesday and will be looking to fare better than they did when the two teams met earlier in the season. A white-wash 6-0 win then set Clayton West on their way to a nine-point lead at the top of the table and a still unbeaten league record. Then on Thursday, the leaders will expect to maintain the momentum of their title challenge to continue when the meet bottom of the table Lowerhouses 'B'.
Kirkheaton Con have the day off on Tuesday but still expect to retain second place even though they are not playing but will then meet Huddersfield Recretaion Club 'A' a team still looking for their first win of the season on Thursday. That elusive first win may have happened on the preceding Tuesday as HRC 'A' meet Rastrick in the Tuesday fixture programme. The two teams shared the league's only 3-3 draw scoreline when they met in October and that remains the only match that HRC 'A' haven't been beaten to date. In return Rastrick will be looking to end a two-game losing run which has seen them lose out on second place .
After facing HRC 'A' on Tuesday, Rastrick then go on to meet Denby Dale on Thursday. By then the Dale will hope that they have ended a two-match losing run by beating Lowerhouses 'B' on Tuesday. Lots to look forward to but at the end of the week the only movement in the league table expected will be Springwood dropping a place or two due to the fact that they only have one match this week and that is against Clayton West. Other than that the running order may be unchanged.
Meltham will be hoping that last Thursday's white-wash win over Dalton, their first win since the opening day of the season, signals better times ahead. That will be sorely tested on Tuesday when they meet leaders Lowerhouses 'A' who have won all six matches to date. The leaders will then go on to meet Lindley BC on Thursday and that will be another big test of the leader's title aspirations as the Daisy Lea Lane club have only be beaten once this season and are on a run of five straight wins.
Just one match this week for the host club's 'A' team when they take on Thorpe Green who will be looking to avenge a 1-5 reversal from earlier in the season. Thorpe Green then go on to meet Dalton on Thursday. That follows a Tuesday meeting of the bottom two when Dalton and Milnsbridge 'B go head-to-head although such is the gap between the teams that the positions will be unaffected. Milnsbridge 'B' have a week when they take on their two nearest opponents in the table so after meeting Dalton they then have to confront Meltham to provide them with their best opportunity to pick up some much-needed points.
