Winter League
The resumption of the fixture programme in Division 1 may not be too welcoming an occasion for bottom of the table Rastrick 'A' as they have the daunting task of halting the steamroller that is the Lower Hopton charge to the top team title in the Winter League. A Top v Bottom clash with teams with mirror-image records of each other as Lower Hopton have won all 10 of their matches this season whilst Rastrick have .... well you know the rest.
Regardless of the outcome, we are assured of some quality bowling which is a marked advancement in the Winter League this second season for as well as an increase in team numbers we continue to see an increase in the quality of the teams in it and the level of bowling being displayed every week. The addition of a couple of the seven teams already showing an interest in joining us next season will only strengthen that development.

Lindley BC 'A' moved into second place in the table just before Christmas but they are now set to lose that position as they have no match this week and their one-point lead over Kirkheaton Con is likely to disappear as they take on Thorpe Green 'A' who they beat 6-2 earlier in the season. Having said that the Thorpe Green team has only lost one of their last 6 matches so a stiff challenge can be expected.
Without a win in their last four matches the New Millers will be keen to return to the form that took them into second place earlier in the season when they meet the team immediately below them in the table, Lowerhouses 'A'. With only one win in their last 5 fixtures the Lowerhouses side need to address a slide that has seen them become perilously close to the drop zone. That move could materialise this week if Milnsbridge 'A' can take some points off Clayton West then they could move out of the relegation places.
So the 2022 fixture programme kick-starts this Wednesday from 12noon at Milnsbridge BC where spectators are most welcome as always.
