Veterans League
There is a proposed change to the Veterans League Rules that will be voted on at the Half-Year Meeting on 12 October. This proposal is to reduce the number of bowlers in all the 10-man teams to 8 for the start of the 2022 season.
Knowing that not all club representatives will consult with their members before voting at the meeting we thought it would be of interest to learn what you bowlers think of that proposed change. The proposal is to reduce the number of bowlers in EVERY team from 10 to 8.
This means that OVER 100 bowlers will be prevented from bowling EVERY week. Many will be lost to bowling.
WHY ? Because a SMALL number of clubs - not ALL - were unable to field 10 bowlers on a SMALL number of weeks.
Sledgehammer to crack a nut comes to mind.
This season has been like no other because of Covid.
Some bowlers delayed starting to bowl and some decided to give this season a miss and return next season. So next season we can expect an increase making this proposal grossly premature.
I await the proposers of this idea to come up with…
