I am grateful to Netherton Con greenkeeper Geoff Dyson for forwarding me a couple of photographs taken this week on his home green. Anyone who played in the Winter League this season will vouch for the quality of the green they were presented with every week through the winter months.
Geoff expects the green to open for the new season from Tuesday 2 April. Anyone who claims that winter bowling is damaging greens should take a ride to Netherton to examine that green after a full winter programme of bowling. It is a lazy claim to make that isn't backed up by the facts.
All good news for those teams visiting the green this season and for the Winter League teams that will also enjoy additional undercover seating expected to be erected over the summer months.
